St. Leonard's Youth Work Update

Coming up this week...  I hope everyone has had lovely first week after half term. Here is what you need to know this week... Cell Groups  All cell groups will be doing sessions based around  family  this week. These sessions are part of a 4 week course of plans put together by the youth wing of the Salvation Army called a:love (click the name to find out more about them).  Friday Pathfinders (younger) Tonight  (24th Feb) we are having a 'Cardboard Fortress Night'. Basically we will have tons of cardboard and we will build our own fort!! Bring as much card board as you can, because no-one ever came to a card board fortress night and said "ohhhh, there is way too much cardboard here...". You also might want to bring things like plastic bottle that can be used for decorations and as weapons!!  Here is some of what we have been collecting in the office Next week (3rd March) ...

Coming up this week...  Well, that went quickly! The good news though is that the youth work is starting back up next week. Here is what is happening..  Cell Groups Every cell group will start  back  next week and they will all be starting a 4 week run of sessions about families (except Year 9). Year 9 Cell will be looking at Spiritual Disciplines.    Friday Pathfinders (younger) This week (17th Feb) there is no Pathfinders, because its half term.  Next week  (24th Feb) we are having a 'Card Board Fortress Night'. The aim of the game will be to build the best cardboard fortress, and then defend and attack with cardboard weaponry. I suggest you bring: Cardboard  (as much as you have)  Gaffa tape (sooo much gaffa tape)  bits of rubbish that would make good throwing weapons (I'm talking plastic, paper and card, not tins or rusty old daggers) Friday Pathfinders (older) ...

Coming up this week...  HALF TERM... Here is some things you need to know before that happens though...  Cell Celebration  Thank you to  everyone  who came to this terms Cell Celebration. Well done to everyone who prepared and lead sections of it. I personally was very encouraged by the service and I know other people were too.  We are really keen to hear what people thought about the Cell Celebration, so if you get chance, then we would love it if you could fill out this old chestnut...  Cell Celebration feedback Friday Pathfinders (younger) This week (10th Feb) its Thirsty Meeples night, so bring extra money for food and any board games you've got that you think are good!  Next week its half term, but week after (24th Feb) its 'Card Board Fortress Night' (that really is what it sounds like, we will be building giant cardboard fortresses). Coming up this week...  Two more weeks before half term! Here is what you need to know this week... Cell Celebration  If you have never been to a Cell Celebration, you are missing a treat. It is basically an amazing, relaxed church service that is run by the members of our cells groups. They only happen once a term and this terms Cell Celebration is Sunday 5th February at 6pm, so come along if you can.  If you are in a cell please can you come for about 5, with everything you need to set up and prepare for what you are doing. Coming up this week...  The days are getting longer, and my intros are getting shorter. Cells are back, pathfinders is back and now lots of the youth work lot are gearing up for the weekend away. Here is what you need to know this week... Soul Survivor We had our first Soul  Survivor  planning meeting, which was pretty productive, well way more than they usually are anyway!  Don't let this photo fool you. I took it after all the important organisey type work was done  We have planned a few fundraisers and decided on who is organising them. Coming up this week...  We are now back into the swing of things. Cells have start, Friday Pathfinders is on tonight and we are gearing up for the weekend away!  Soul Survivor Every year we take a  group  of people in year 9 and above to a Christian festival called Soul Survivor .  This year we will be going again!! The dates are the 24th - 30th August, so if you want to come, put it in your diaries/phones/bits of paper/however you keep track of dates (week C for those in the know). Letters will be coming out for that trip in the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for them if you are interested!    Cell Groups  Some  of the groups have got a bit out of sync with each other, but hopefully in the next couple of weeks, most groups will have caught up.  Year 7 cell will be looking at Spiritual Disciplines.  Year 8 and 9 cell will be doing a second session on Ment...
