26th September - 2nd October

Coming up this week...

One week down and 4 more to go (until half term). Last week started well and it feels good to be back! Here is a list of what is coming up and some other useful things you need to know...

Cell Groups
This week at cells Year 7 + 8 + 11 will be looking at 'Guidance and how to listen for it', Year 10 Cell will be looking at 'Who is Jesus', Year 9 will be looking at 'Prayer' and Year 12 + 13 will be looking at 'What is Church for?'. Complicated I know, but we should all fall back into sync by next week (with the exception of year 12 + 13 cells as they all have young leaders in who need to be ahead of the game).

Year 7 Cell - the newest members of our cell group family!!
(Naomi had to go before this was taken but she is one of us too!)

Parents, please make sure you have filled out at Consent form. Cell members, make sure you bring the Consent form as we are only allowed to let people come along for one week without one!

Friday Pathfinders (younger)
Last week we had an amazing time breaking the ice. This week we will be playing a life size game of Pokemon GO, hunting down "real Pokemon" (either that or leaders dressed in ridiculous Pokemon costumes) through the streets of Eynsham.

Don't forget your Consent form!

Friday Pathfinders (Older)
Like younger, last week we had a great time breaking ice at older Pathfinders (even if you guys did cheat and cover me in grassy, as well as spitty, ice!). This week's theme for older is yet to be decided, but I will let you know as soon as I do...

Sunday Pathfinders
I hope everyone who tried them enjoyed their BBQ eggs at the BBQ last week. It was great to see you all and hang out.

This week Sunday Pathfinders will be lead by Jennifer and Angela and we will be looking at 2 Timothy: 2.

CYFA
This week CYFA will lead by the renowned speaker and writer, Nick Page, and the slight less renowned youth worker, Olly Shaw. We will be carrying on our series on the Bible, so try to bring one along with you if you can.

Contact
If you want to know what is happening week-to-week in the youth work, you are already in the right place (well done you). But, if you need to contact us about anything else, I thought it would be helpful to have a list of contact information, so here it is:

Phone: 07725606725
Email: youth.stleonards@gmail.com

I have been asked to provide an official photo for the church website. I thought this would do the trick...

WE ARE READY!! ARE YOU??

Don't forget your Consent form!

Sunday Pathfinders
This week (25th September) Sunday Pathfinders are having a a BBQ breakfast to celebrate the start of the year. We will be meeting straight at the Pearce's house (contact me if you don't know where that is) at 10.45 instead of going to church first like normal.

When we get there we will play some games, eat some delicious breakfast and then hearing some stories about how the leaders came to be Christians.

If you have any special dietary requirements, please let me know before hand.

And make sure you bring this permission slip with you, as well as a Consent form

CYFA
Because it's the 4th Sunday next week there isn't any CYFA. But it is OK because we will be back the week after to hear some of Nick's self proclaimed "wisdom" on the Bible and what it is for.

Just a little treat for those of you that were in my group last week...
Which ever group you joined last week, make sure you have a go at which ever way you thought sounded helpful for getting in to reading the Bible everyday.

12th - 18th September

Coming up this week...

Its another week of admin catch up this week for the youth work (Boo Hiss) but we are back properly next week (Hooray). Here is some stuff you might want to know before that...

Youth Band
If you have ever heard our youth band play you will know that they are amazing. As a special treat they are actually having its first meeting back this week, ahead of all the other groups. So if you were in the youth band last year come along again tonight. For the Junior band, they will be meeting at 7.00pm in St. Leonard's Church. At 8.00pm the older band will show up so that everyone can play together for half an hour and then at 8.30pm the younger lot will clear off and the Senior band will have their session. All without annoying a single neighbour (hopefully).

Cell Groups
There are no cell groups meeting this week. We will be starting back again next week (19th September) and unless you hear otherwise it will be at the same time and place as it was last year.

For the new year 7 cell it looks like we having it at the same time as last year (7.15pm - 8.30pm) and I'll be letting you know the place this week.

Speaking of Year 7s check out this blast from the past! 10 points if you can identify them all...

Friday Pathfinders
The first Friday Pathfinders (older and younger) will be starting back on Friday 22nd September. Prepare to have the ice thoroughly broken (in case you didn't read last weeks, it will be Ice Breaker Games)!

Sunday Pathfinders
Sunday Pathfinders is BACK!! This Sunday we will be looking at what it means to be part of Sunday Pathfinders as well as praying for each other.

CYFA
CYFA is also having its first Sunday back this Sunday. We will be looking at different ways to engage with the Bible and seeing which ones work best for us.

Abseiling
In case you missed it, last week some of us got the chance to jump off the roof of the church! It's amazing how many people said that they had always wanted to do it. Maybe that says something about the sermons at our church...

Anyway it was brilliant fun, and it was all for a good cause. If you fancy sponsoring any of the young people that did it, please get in touch at youth.stleonards@gmail.com

Consent forms!
The new consent form is ready to be downloaded so you can fill it out and give it to us next week. It's bigger than it used to be, but it means you only need one no matter how many groups you go to.

Consent form

Facebook...
If you haven't sent or accepted a friend request from my new 'Olly Shaw (youth worker)' Facebook account, then you should do that as at the start of next week I will have to start deleting people from my old one.

5th - 11th Sep

Coming up this week...

This isn't so much as a update about what is happening this week (as there isn't much). It's more a list of things you need to know in advance...

Consent forms!
We have got a new policy when it comes to consent forms (how exciting I hear you cry!). Basically we are getting a bit stricter and people will only be allowed to come for 1 week to any group without a form. After that, unfortunately, we will have to turn people away who haven't given one in. Our forms are actually being rewritten at the moment but they will be available to downloaded by Wednesday from here:

Consent forms

So, you are feeling super organised you can fill them out and bring them to the first week back!

Facebook...
Because of a change of policy I (Olly) have to create a new Facebook account to connect with anyone who is under 18 or still at school. That means that this week, if I am friends with you on Facebook, you will get a 'friend request' from someone called 'Olly Shaw (youth worker)'. Don't worry, it really is me, not someone who will ask you to send money for a train fare because I'm stuck in the Isle of Skye and have had all my things stolen (unless, by some unfortunate twist of fate I really do get stuck in the Isle of Skye, but in that case I will use the code word "Chicken Teddy" so you will know it is me).

Please do accept as after a couple of weeks I will have to delete everyone from the old one (even if they haven't accepted the request form the new one.)

Cell Groups
Most cell groups will be starting back the week beginning the 19th September, at their usual times and usual places (unless you hear otherwise from your leaders).

For the new year 7 cell we will be getting in touch with you (or your parents) to find out a time and a day that works best for everyone, so keep an eye out for that.

Friday Pathfinders
The first Friday Pathfinders (older and younger) will be starting back on Friday 22nd September with some Epic Ice Breaker Games (like Ice Breaker Games only epicer)

Sunday Pathfinders/CYFA
This Sunday is Morey's last Sunday :'( so we are having a goodbye service for him. Because of that everyone will be staying in church and we won't have any CYFA or Pathfinders.

If you see Morey on Sunday, make sure you remind him who grew the better moustache

Keeping you updated...

What's new...

You may notice soon that there have been a few changes around here. This first is that Beth has now handed over the reins to this chap:

The second is that there is now a new 'Youth Steering Group' overseeing the work and making sure I am properly managed.

Blog, huh, yeah, what is it good for... (quite bit actually)
If you are too young (or too old) to use things like Facebook, or you want a regular place where you can look to find out what is going on, then this is the blog is the place to come for all your St. Leonard's Youth related information. We will be putting out a blog every Monday letting you know what is coming up, which groups are on or not on and what we will be doing. You can even sign up to get an email with every new blog as and when it comes.

Next week...
On that note here is the run down of what is happening next week...

Cell groups
Normally cell groups would start back on the first full week of term. However, this term, to give us chance to catch up with the changes and get things set up, cell groups will not be starting until the week beginning 19th September. Most cells will be at the same time and places as last year and you should hear from your leaders before hand. But if you don't or need to know more, give us an email at youth.stleonards@gmail.com.

Friday Pathfinders
Just like Cell groups Friday Pathfinders (older and younger) will be starting a bit later than usual. The first one will be on Friday 22nd September (6.30pm in the church hall) and we will be doing some "ice breaker" games, which usually involves actually breaking some physical ice at some point. This time we will have the added bonus of getting to chuck some actual ice over one of the leaders heads.

CYFA & Sunday Pathfinders
This Sunday all the youth are staying in church because we have the Youth Band playing, feed back about different summer camps and we are praying for our new youth worker (and looking at him, he really needs it!).
