Moldova update 17.2.20

Moldova updates

The blog is where you are able to find out about what's going on with our team over in Moldova. I will be updating the blog each day with a few stories, pictures and prayer points from the team themselves.

On Friday night the group met with the other churches in Bicester before flying to Chisinau (capital city of Moldova) on Saturday morning. They travel went smoothly and all arrived Safely. They had a good meal upon arrival and slept in relatively luxurious conditions (bunkbeds). On Sunday morning they had a small service with the group they have gone too and had a crash course on Moldovan culture. They then took a trip out to view the surrounding area. On Monday they are heading out to a local village where they will be based. They will be delivering food parcels to families and running holiday club style activities for local young people.

Prayer points:
Please pray for the children activities they are running, and that the language barrier doesn't become an issue for them

Please pray for our teams spiritual development as they learn more about their relationship with God

And please pray for the relationships created between the Moldovan people and the team that are out there. We pray that it can be a two way relationship where both sides learn and develop a growing faith.

14th-21st Feb

Coming up next week...
Ahhhh half term is upon us. For those of us for whom that makes a difference, I hope you have got a good week lined up. For those of you for whom it makes no difference, I hope you have a good normal week. As next week is half term for us, most groups will not be running, but we would appreciate prayers for the small group of people who are heading off to Moldova with Reign Ministries. And because this is the last blog of this half term I have included a bumper crop of photos...

Feb 6th-14th

Coming up next week...
Roll up, roll up, sit comfortably and get ready to be informed. Unlike Steven last week, I am literally bubbling over with excitement about writing this weeks blog and I'm full of hilarious and witty jokes so prepare to be mildly amused (at best). This week we have our Cell Celebration, makeup night, possibly a bit of patience and some overseas travel thrown in for good measure. Read below to find out more...

Cell Groups
This Sunday at 6pm in St. Learned's (9th February) is our termly Cell Celebration. People who are in Cell Groups If you have never been to one of these I can highly recommend them. They are essentially an informal church service, planned and delivered by all the members of our cell groups. We have games, food, a talk and prayer stations and the theme this term is Patience.

If you have been before you know what to expect, so I will see you there.

If don't know what your Cell is doing for the Cell Celebration this time, then find out from your leaders!

After the Cell Celebration, cell groups will mostly be doing their own thing. Some wont be meeting, some will be doing and final session on patience and others will be having a social. Please can all members of cells check with their leaders to find out what their cell is planning on doing.

Younger Friday Pathfinders
Tomorrow (7th Feb) we are having a makeup and video games night, planned and delivered by our resident makeup and video games experts. Prepare to be totally entertained and beautified.

Next week (14th Feb) there is no Friday Pathfinders!!

Older Friday Pathfinders
This Friday (7th Feb) Immi, Naomi and Hope have prepared a 'make over' special for us all to 'enjoy'. There will also be computer games for the less aesthetically minded of us but come prepared for an evening of pampering and luxury. It will be a bit like a spar but instead of a spar we will be in the church hall and instead of a nice massage you can play a computer game... and all for the bargain price of £2.

Next week (14th Feb) there is no Friday Pathfinders!! !

Sunday Pathfinders
Sunday Pathfinders is on this week. We are having a CAP (Christians Against Poverty) session run by Jennifer, with Olly as the helper. Oh and there will also be danish pastries to eat...

CYFA
Last week I hear CYFA put the finishing touches on our plans for church domination? This week there isn't any CYFA but... the plans are underway.

17th - 24th Jan

Coming up next week...
Hello, hello. Just a short and sweet blog this week as I feel you may have been bombarded with all our blogs recently. All our cell groups have now met back for their first session and it's not long till our cell celebration. Friday Pathfinders is back today and for those of you who like a good board game, why not come to the church hall at 4pm on Sunday (19th) for a Board Games Café.

Special events
You may or may not know that some of us from the youth are taking part in a mission trip to Moldova during February half term. As part of our fundraising efforts we are putting on a couple of events;

The first is a Board Games Café on Sunday 19th Jan 4-7pm in St. Leonard's church hall. Tickets for entry are £3.50, there will be tea, coffee, cakes and of course loads and loads of board games for you to play!

Then on Sunday 26th Jan we are having a social lunch at St. Leonard's Church. There will be games/entertainment for children, chilli to eat and generally a good time to be had. We will start straight after church (about 12 noon) and will finish at around 3pm.

Cell Groups
All cell groups are starting back this week and appropriately enough we are exploring the theme of patience.

Year 7 - 8 Cell - will be doing their first session on Patience.

Year 9 Cell - will be having a session on the book of Mark (you asked for it, so you are getting it!)

Year 10 - 13 Cell - will be doing patience part 2!

Another date for the diary is 9th February, which is the Cell Celebration. More on that next week .
Younger Friday Pathfinders
Tonight (17th Jan) we are having a joint session with the Older Pathfinders, it will be Older vs. Younger night, who will be victorious?! Because it is a joint session we are finishing at the later time of 8pm rather than 7.45pm.

Another productive planning meeting!

Next week (24th Jan) it is Old People night, not to give any spoilers, but it may involve dressing up!!

Older Friday Pathfinders
This Friday (17th Jan) we are joining forces to defeat the Young Pathfinders in an Older vs. Younger night. To give them the home advantage we are meeting at their time of 6.30pm-8pm (well, we did add 15mins). Let's rock up and show those young whipper snappers who's boss shall we?

Next Friday (24th Jan) we are having another Jake Holton planned extravaganza... this time it's game show night and if the preparations so far are anything to go by, it should be a good session!

Sunday Pathfinders
Sunday Pathfinders is back is on again this Sunday (19th Jan). We are looking at 'hidden idols' this week as part of our spiritual decluttering set of sessions.

CYFA
This week CYFA is back and we are looking into the deceptively complicated topic of 'How to go to Church'... see you there!

Coming up next week...

And we are back.... thank you for your patience with us but we are looking forward to everything starting up again. Having had a week of planning and meetings with various leadership teams and the Youth Steering Group we are now ready to start 2020 as we mean to go on.

Cell Groups
All cell groups are starting back this week and appropriately enough we are exploring the theme of patience.

Year 7 - 9 Cell - will be starting with a social, same time and same places as last year. For year 8 cell, we are looking at making that a bit earlier but we will keep you posted.

Year 10 - 13 Cell - will be starting with our first session on 'Patience', and as a further bit of patience practice, you will have a social but it will be just before half term.
